Post-production (Andy)
For Post-Production the techniques/ICT that i will be using is Final Cut Pro: to edit the base track/footage that we have filmed, ClipGrab to download our music, HandBreak to convert the file into a suitable file for the Blogger.
For Technique for Final Cut Pro:
- I will be using Markers to mark for each base/beat to link up each match-cut. Also to sync the lip syncing on time with the base tracks.
- I will be using some transition such as dissolve to cut some time in the music video
- I might be using some slow motion but it will be depending if it will be suitable and where it will suit in the music video, but it can be an experiment

6. Audience 2 (Steve Jameson)
We had interviewed two different types of people to find what people expect to see within house music, the contrast within the two groups allows us to get a more wider-range on what is expected.
The first group explains how they expect to see dancing, specific types of dance moves like 'cutting shapes', colours, flashlights, smoke, DJs, drugs laying around and being taken. We plan to include some of these stereotypes as well as avoid others so it will seem appropriate.

The second recording was questioning an individual, her views on house music videos was that it contains a lot of dancing and some occasionally tell a story within the video. We also ask her about the artist and she says how he loves the artist and listens to her all the time.
When contrasting the two different types of views we can see that both share similar views, with it featuring dancing. However there's also some differences, the first group go into more detail about specific features that are expected within a video whereas the second more talks about the artist and says how she loves the artist and genre.
Along with asking students around the college we also wanted to get opinions from people online and too find out what they liked in house music video so we joined a forum titled 'What do you like in House Music Videos'. The first response was very good as it really started off a conversation between others.
If we look at most of the songs mentioned they also contain dancing, a lot of special effects and some even contain a story within the video, which is what we plan to do. The forum didn't have many detailed post as others were more simple (like below)
But this meant we could research upon that DJ and find out what they contain, what we would find is that they all seem to play on the conventions of having a storyline within the video, dancing and a lot of jump cuts.
Industry (done by lauren)
WHO WOULD YOUR ARTIST BE SIGNED TO AND WHY?
Our artist,Becky Hill would be signed to Defected This is because she sings to the genre of house music in the majority of her songs.
WHICH OTHER SIMILAR ARTISTS ARE ALSO SIGNED TO THIS LABEL?
Second City is an artist signed to Defected who sings house music just like our artist Becky Hill.
WOULD YOUR SONG BE AVAILABLE FOR INTERNET DOWNLOAD ONLY?
No our music video will be available both online and in store.
WILL YOU BE SIGNED TO A MAJOR OR INDEPENDENT?
Our artist will be signed to an independent label this is because the genre created by our artist which is house isn't a mainstream genre such as R&B and HipHop.
Theory (By Analiza)
Our music video follows Goodwin's theory in the sense that our music video works to promote the song through amplifying the lyrics. The story relates to the song in a sense as the song is called 'Losing' and we picked the story of Alice in Wonderland owing to her getting lost throughout.
Synergy (By Analiza)
Identify one key visual element that you are going to use to link together your promotional video with the digipak and advert. Using images explain how they work together.
We will show synergy through a dominant colour palette. Alice's dress throughout is blue, and the Queen of Heart's attire is red, so we will carry the red/blue theme throughout which can also connote a contrast between evil and good etc.
For example, our album cover will consist of blue and red writing together with a black background in order for the writing to stand out.
Moreover, the advert for the music video and album will probably start with children's music :

This initiates the whole point of the plot of the music video - being based around a children's book.
Costume (By Analiza)
In our music video we will have a number of costume changes as the characters within the story are continuously changing. For Alice we will have the character wear the traditional alice in wonderland blue dress with blue contact lenses.
As Alice travels through her journey, she meets the Queen of Hearts. We decided that the costume she will wear will be a red/burgundy velvet dress, with a red wig and a crown.
Other characters include the rabbit and the mad hatter:
Risk assessment
We have to consider many possible accidents that could potentially happen whilst filming. This is to ensure that everybody is safe and the media departments equipment is protected as it is very expensive.
-we have to make sure we have a bag near site incase the weather doesn't go to plan and starts raining so we can protect the camera and any other electrical equipment that could get damaged.
-we have to make sure that we carry the equipment properly for example holding the tripod up right. This is to avoid any accidents for example if we are walking down a busy street it will be easy to knock somebody with the tripod if it isnt help properly
-we have to make sure we do not misplace any equipment this is very important.
-we will be filming in the night time in a forest so it is vital that we are aware of our surroundings at all times and stay together.

What is a music video
What is a music video?
A music video is a videotaped performance of a recorded popular song, usually accompanied by dancing and visual images interpreting the lyrics.
Music videos have become an integral part of the music industry and play a vital function in the success of the artist and the sales pf their singles and album releases.
What is the main purpose of a music video?
1) To sell the song in a way that the audience can remember the song from the video
2)To provide the viewer with a better understanding of the song so they engage with it both visually and audibly.
3)To entertain the viewer by highlighting the talents of the artist-dancing,singing,performing and physical appearance.

Here above is a music video of Rihanna who has many music videos in order to promote her singles and albums. Music videos can also be used to promote films, there are many music which do this and in their music videos they use images from the movies.A good example of this is N-dubz dance on promoting streetdance2.

A more recent example of film promotion through music videos is alecia keys ft kenrick lamar its on again.promoting spiderman2.

Testing with dslr
Testing the dslr in a dark room, checking if the lighting is suitable for our filming also checking if the dslr's files is compatible with final cut pro and can be edited normally
Setting and Location (Steve Jameson)
Setting and Location
Our idea of telling the story of Alice in Wonderland to emphasise on the song lyrics helps make location scouting.
One location we are going to use is Alexandra Park
As it can contains the opening setting for us to use within the music video and locations to use throughout the verses and chorus;
The first a singular tree, preferably one were the singer can rest on reading Alex in Wonderland, this will be the opening of the music video as she'll being to pass out whilst reading the book and therefore setting up for the initial ideas of the song. The second setting is the trees/forest within the park, this will be good for verses as we can have the singer walking through the trees and at the start of every verse a new character within Alex in Wonderland will join to help the audience identify the start of a verse.
Another location is Alexandra Palace
We see this as a good location as it is relatively close towards our first location and we're planning to go here on November 1st as they are having a firework display, our plan is to have the characters in the video facing towards the fireworks towards the ending of the video, as this will be a nice setting to fade out from and it links to our story as the singer is coming out from being lost within the forest.

Last weekend a group member had gone to our plan location to take pictures of everywhere that would seem like a viable location to film, from all these pictures we then narrowed it down to more specific ones that would fit each part more and they're shown within the storyboard.
Brand image (By Analiza)
Introduce your artist and their brand image -
- Which artists are they similar to?
The artist will be similar to singers such as Lily Allen, a mainstream-ish singer. This is because of the nature of the song.
- What will your artist wear and why?
The artist will wear an Alice in Wonderland costume owing to the plot of the music video.
- How might their image help to connect to a wider audience?
The image may help to connect a wider audience as it hasn't been done before (the storyline) which will attract many people (disney fans or not) as it's an interesting story to follow and everyone knows it.
Song Choice (By Analiza)
Introduce the song you've chosen and briefly outline how your video will be different from the original
The song we're doing is 'Becky hill - Losing' but the icarus remix. We chose this as there is a clear distinction between the verses etc. It will be different from the original as we will be telling the story of Alice in Wonderland. In addition to this, we will be filming fireworks at the end owing to it being near bonfire night.
Concept (By Analiza)
Describe the concept of your music video in one sentence…
The concept of our music video involves the story of Alice in Wonderland. As the name of our song is 'losing' we decided to base the concept around Alice in Wonderland as she is lost throughout the whole of the story. For every verse/chorus change, we decided to bring in a new character that Alice meets to enhance the contrast between the verses/chorus.
We also confirmed that we'd end the music video with fireworks to simplify when Alice finds her way out.

Evaluation to our 50 second MV
For our short music video, we wasn't prepared nor we didn't plan as much as we needed to.
Our short music video was shorter than we expected as we didn't have enough time to film, this was due to a slight problem with our group. On the bright side, the lip sync was perfect and we was pleased with what we have produced.
In our future Music Video, we will come prepared and follow our plan/schedule for our actual music video as we learnt not to make the same mistake for our short music video.
We will be more organised and prepared than ever.

My favourite previous ex-student video
25. Christabell Ndive, Juliana Lopez, Tamara Akotuah from 283goswell on Vimeo.
I watched this video during class and I like it.
It follow the function of a music video. It had variety of shots to promote the new artist. It had the same costume for the same chorus whereas each verse was different to each other such as different costume, location etc.
Muvley's Theory on Presentation.
Mulvey believed many music videos portray females through the 'Male Gaze'. 'The Male Gaze' being how men perceive women in a music video sexually whether it is through that way in which the woman is dressed to how she is made up. This happen through a variety types of shot focused on the female, mostly comes with very close-up shot.
Shakira - Can't Remember to Forget You ft. Rihanna
A song where that has Male gaze in majority of the shot/scene.

Evaluate Lip Sync Tutorial.
What are the most common shot types in music videos and did you make good use of hem in your music video?
The most common shot types in music videos are establishing shots, close ups and mid shots.Myself and my group have used both close ups and mid shots which is what we planned.we realized as a group that we didn't do as well as we could of done with this task. One reason for this is we didn't plan thoroughly this led us with little time to prepare and film which we ended up with around 15 seconds of footage instead of 50 seconds. This put us at a disadvantage as we wasn't able to finish our mini music video off which is a shame because the first 15 seconds look good and hen it just stops. This meant that we wernt able to include many of these shots such as mid shots and establishing shots.
If we did get to finish what we had started then we would have included some more establishing and master shots in order to present a good balance of camera shots.
What is Vernallis theory and how well did you follow it in post production?
Carol Vernallis theory focuses on four main key concepts in music videos these are camera, narrative, editing and diegsis. Our.Our mini video does not follow Vernallis theory.Te music video is not a response to the lyrics which makes the narrative type disjuncture which means the actions in the music video do not reflect the lyrics as Carol Vernalli states they should. However our editing managed t follow her theory for example continuity editing was broken,we ave some jump cuts however, this is due to the lack of filming we had produced. Our editing did have a rytmic basis connected to the song which looked good and even better if we had prepared and got it right.
what are base tracks and why do most videos contain them?Evaluate how well ou made use of them in your video.
Base tracks are mini clips that are referred to back and forth in a music video.A use of base tracks is that it makes it easier when it comes to editing. This is because you can pick and choose whether or not to cut away any faulty parts in order to make a better music video. However, cutaways are used in order to make the video more interesting as it can move away from what is actually happening or even illustrate what is being sung.Sadly we do not have a full base track as we have only filmed 1 seconds of the opening but we would have had one with a few cut aways to make the music video seem more interesting.
How did you use markers to help you lip sync and how successfully were you/your group at lip syncing.
With the short footage of what we had made we did our best to edit what we had.we used Final cut pro in order to edit our mini music video.Final cut Pro is very useful i have found from previous experience. We used the markers this helped us match the audio with the visuals perfectly in order for it to look realistic.Final cut pro allows you to cover up lip syncing mistakes and allowed our opening to match up correctly.
Overall i believe that for the first time of trying lip syncing it was done good.I also strongly feel that with more time and preperation we could of made a successful music video opening. However, this is a steppin stone for us as a team to be more prepared and watch the time carefully.I had to go home because i was ill and our other team member was late which put timing very tight. This is a lesson for our future music video which will be planned and organised in order to produce a successful music video.
AS-A2 What i had learnt about music videos
During AS media last year there were many new things i had learned that i would have never of thought about if i hadn't of studied the course.i learnt many skills for example through blogging in order to to get a good grade we had to use multiple uses of IT.This is because there are many other ways of presenting work in s many different ways.I was able to explore and mess around with different forms of IT such as vlogs, powtoon and prezi.
Prezi-Prezi is a very useful website that allows you to present your ideas clearly in different ways for example as a brainstorm ect. I.I will definitely use prezzie more frequently this year as it is very useful.
Other forms IT i used were
.Timetoast
.Camtasia
.Animoto
.Gifs
The use of these helped me allot during my As year.It allowed me to explore new ways to present my work which made my blog look appealing.
Not only for blogging i learnt new skills i also learnt some new skills through editing our teen film opening. For example, using Final Cut Pro-i used final cut for editing clips hat me and my group had produced was a useful skill as i had never used it before and i thought it would take me much longer than it did to understand and get used to it.
