Mainstream vs. Independent
There are two types of artists in the media industry; these being mainstream and independent. A mainstream artists (such as Jay Z and Kanye West) is someone who is hugely known around the world because of their music, branding, fame and money. They are worshipped greatly and usually signed to the most major record labels, if they haven't already got their own that is.
Independent artists on the other hand, are artists that adapt a kind of 'do it yourself' approach. They're usually either unsigned or signed to a small record label, which would still mean doing most of the work on their own.
So, let's compare…
The Sonics
Jay Z
Someone like Jay Z on the other hand, is not only signed but has their own label. There is a huge contrast between the two artists, especially when their net worth is searched.
The sonics are irrelevant whereas Jay Z's net worth is bold on google.
